Altar Guild Checklist (General Duties):

Hangings - proper color for church season; same color for offering plate cushion

Hymn board numbers/name for appropriate Sunday

Check pews/racks - straighten books/envelopes/visitation cards/pencils

Polish brass and silver as needed

Flowers - arrange in vases; after Sunday service, alert ushers for designated flower delivery; use covered flower cans.  Check narthex and ladies' room for old flowers; if you have extra flowers, make small arrangements(s) for narthex and/or ladies' room

Candles - check oil and wicks; check wick of staff that acolytes use to light candles--replace if needed.  Have matches available in narthex and alcove

Also check oil in torches.

Clean Linens - (Christmas/Easter- special linens)

Water for Priests and organist - 4 glasses

Set-up Communion:

  1.   Wine cruet (fill to bottom of handle); 150 wafers in round bread box -   put in narthex prior to Sunday service

  2.   Water cruet (fill to bottom of handle)

  3.   Arrange "tent" - corporal, large chalice, purificator, paten, wafer, pall, cover and burse

  4.   Flagon - 1 cup of wine

  5.   Ciborium

  6.   Small chalice with purificator

  7.   Box with consecrated wafers

  8.   Lavabo and towel

  9.   Father Budd's Gospel Book on altar

  10.   Place home communion kits on altar when scheduled

Be aware of any extra services during your week; set up for Wednesday Holy communion service with wafers (square box with lose wafers), remaining water and wine from Sunday service

Special services such as Baptisms, Holy Days, Weddings, Funerals, etc. will have extra needs

Keep sacristy door closed during Sunday service

Before cleaning after service, wait until everyone has left church sanctuary
