The Rev. Ross McGowan Wright

Ross is a native of Columbia S.C. He is married to Lynda Wornom Wright, from Emporia,VA; and they have three children: Ross (17), Elliott (14) and Owen (11) who attend schools in Ashland. The newest member of the household is Baylee, a Miniature Australian Shepherd. The Wrights moved to Ashland in September 2005 when Lynda joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College. Prior to that, they lived in Princeton and St Andrews, Scotland, where Ross worked on a PhD in Systematic Theology at the University of St Andrews. Ross submitted his dissertation (on Karl Barth's theological exegesis of the New Testament) and graduated in December 2007.
As a young person, Ross and his family were active members of Trinity Cathedral, Columbia, where he was ordained in 1982. Following seminary (Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, 1981), he served as Assistant to the Rector at Grace Church in New York City, where he met Lynda. They were married there in 1985. From 1987 to 2002, he served as Rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Norfolk. In his free time, he enjoys running, hiking the Appalachian Trail, birding, and cycling.
