October and November, 2005,  meetings concentrated on plans for the 100-year anniversary of our church.

The September meeting featured  Barb Moore on Refugee Relocation Needs.

On August 6 a very successful yard sale was held in the church parish hall.

The June 2005  meeting was a dinner meeting at 6:30 PM at Good Vibes Restaurant on Forest Hill Avenue.

St. Monica's Meeting in May, 2005 - Class on Flower Arrangements:         Chris Motz gave an excellent class on arranging flowers to the members of St. Monica's Guild.  In attendance were Eleanor Bradford, Val Bowman, Sallie Neblett, Bertha Self, Marcia Coreth, Kathy Lehman, Alma Thompson, Sylvia Arrighi, Adrienne Hymes, Frances Van Heuveln, and Lea Emory.

Some of the tips from Chris were:  Use a triangle design, with the sides about 3/4 the length of the tallest flowers in the center; start with the tallest flower and the ones that will be the focal point; use sugar for longer lasting flowers; clip stems and leaves since they drink a great deal of water; beat woody stems for more water absorption (ex. azaleas); wrap peonies (before they are fully open) in newspaper and then in plastic wrap and place in the freezer until Christmas - they will open and be nice for a couple of days; and every time you take roses out of the water, you have to cut them because they seal.

We learned a great deal and had a great evening of fellowship - and some great food.
