Youth News

This weekend our Youth Group is starting its –

Quarterback Sunday Kickoff - this Sunday 9/8  All of the congregation is invited to wear your football jersey and bring your change - we are once again collecting quarters during football season for Stop Hunger Now.  Last year it was quite successful and in the spring, the lunch assembly at Westover Hills United Methodist Church was an awesome day!!  We are hoping to have the meal assembly at Good Shepherd this spring if our plan goes smoothly.

Also, we are collecting for Change the World RVA. This is the official name of the group we’ve been working with to help high school students from Huguenot High School, George Wythe High School, and Kennedy High School.  Its a ministry for high school and college students in Richmond who are experiencing housing instability.

At these high schools there are on-campus food and toiletry ”banks” to assist these students, but currently they are experiencing shortages of the following items:

Single/individual servings –

Fruit cups

Granola bars/Protein Bars

Pop-top Ravioli type meals

Fruit Snacks

Cereal

Vienna sausages or other canned meats

Crackers, goldfish, fig bars, animal crackers, teddy grahams, etc.

Body Wash

Lotion

Shampoo

Deodorant

We will be collecting these items over the next several weeks, there will be a more extensive list later, we plan to help them year round.  Check out Wishes on Facebook, it provides support for Change the World RVA.
