Important Announcement From Fr. Terry
May 20, 2021: GSEC parish e-mail:
In light of last week’s announcement from the CDC relaxing the current COVID restrictions nationwide, the Diocese of Southern Virginia has announced new guidelines for parishes which effectively relax most of the restrictions for worship which we have been operating under. The new posted guidelines allow for the following:
we are able to meet inside without social distancing (no more blue tape);
masks are optional (though recommended for the unvaccinated)
congregational singing is permitted
we may have coffee hour inside (though as long as the weather allows, we may keep gathering outside)
For many of us, especially those who have been fully vaccinated, the relaxation of these restrictions is a welcome development. I am particularly gladdened to know that we may sing again in worship! Thanks be to God!
For those who have not been vaccinated or who have an underlying condition that increases your risk, please continue to do what you feel most comfortable with, whether that means continuing to wear a mask and to sit apart from others, or to wait a little longer before rejoining our congregation’s worship.
