The Church of the Good Shepherd was established with the cornerstone of the building being laid on June 25, 1908, and the first service in the building was on November 15 of the same year. The church is a copy of the Isle of Wight Church, which is recognized as one of the most beautiful small churches in Virginia. You are invited to view pictures of our church. October 21, 1914 the church was consecrated by Bishop Randolph.
The mission of the Church of the Good Shepherd is to obey Christ by making disciples of all people. We make disciples by leading people to Christ as Savior and Lord, and by helping them to mature through Scripture education, forming Christian relationships with the congregation, and following God's call into ministry.

Freedom House provides shelter, staff and support services for the homeless. Jim Riddle voluntarily tends the grounds each week and could use a bit of help - call him to volunteer at 232 2335 or sign up at the 43rd St. entrance. ICE - A campaign encouraging people to store personal details on their mobile phones to help identify victims of accidents and disasters has taken off since the bomb attacks in London. Users are being urged to enter a number in their phone's memory under the heading ICE - In Case of Emergency. Paramedics or police would then be able to use it to contact a relative.
